Talks presented by Ruth

As a retired lecturer and teacher Ruth enjoys giving Talks to groups of people. She has given very many over the years, most of which were, and are, illustrated by relevant pictures. Terry, her husband, is in charge of the technical side. Ruth's Talks have included topics to do with Archaeology, such as the Romans, the Iron Age and local Places to Visit from the Prehistoric to Medieval Castles and the Industrial Revolution. She has given Talks on the Past Around Us in the Golden Valley and also in the Monnow Valley.

Her Talks on Fieldnames have proved to be popular and have often led to further research by those interested in their local areas. She has also given Talks on Dore Abbey and she regularly takes visitors on booked tours of the Abbey and also to Bacton Church. She aims to bring the past alive for her audience as the various monuments and areas were built and lived in by people like us. The groups include history societies, county societies, archaeological groups, family history societies, Women’s Institutes and other groups, Probus, pensioners, luncheon clubs.......for which she asks a small fee.

In the last few years Ruth has given numerous Talks on Blanche Parry, the content of which she varies according to her audience's interests. These are extremely popular and she has already more booked for this coming year. Occasionally a group has summarised the Talk for its journal as shown below:
